A local solution created by and for the benefit of schools without a competitive debate program
Since 2000, budget cuts have steadily reduced debate programs at urban schools, making it an activity dominated by private and suburban public schools. Urban debate leagues have countered this trend in dozens of US cities over two decades, demonstrating the enormous value of the leagues’ approach and focus.
Amplifying Voices and Developing Pathways to Success
In recent years, leading academic researchers have shown the strong connection between organized competitive debate and significant outcomes in critical skills and thinking, communication and collaboration, leading to academic success and college readiness. Crucially, students’ gains through participation in debate hinged on their sustained competition in an organized league.
